1/ Phillipe Marcade
The young Frenchman Phillipe Maracade arrived on the New York Downtown scene in 1977. Punk was in bloom, and the Gallic musician soon became known simply as “Flip.” Thirty years of music later he has described himself as “crazy, mad, cuckoo, insane, wackjob.” Who better, then, to write a history of those days of urban decay and artistic creation? Philippe Marcade talks to CANAPE about his recently published book Au dela de l’avenue D.

2/ Persepolis
A few years ago Marjane Satrapi charmed the world with a her wise graphic novel Persepolis about growing up in and outside of Iran after the 1979 Islamic revolution. Now the author and her collaborator Vincent Paronnaud bring the story to the screen in animated form. Winner of multiple international awards including the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, the story is bound to win new audiences with its touching portrayal of the complexities of being Persian in the modern world. The creators chat with CANAPE about bringing delicate feelings to the big screen.
