CUNY Forum: Election 2008: The Urban Agenda

Taped: 10/21/2008 Running Time: 1:00

The CUNY Forum is a monthly town meeting that brings prominent New Yorkers together with faculty and students of the Edward T. Rogowsky Internship Program in Government and Public Affairs.

Moderator Bob Liff and a panel of experts discuss the 2008 Presidential contest and its implications on New York City and urban areas around the nation.  Particular emphasis is placed upon the on-going financial crisis in the US, as well as the impact of the crisis on the next Presidential administration.  The panel explores the impact of the financial crisis on aid to state and localities, along with the ramifications of leaner budgets on affordable housing, tax policy, and social services in New York and throughout the nation.  A host of questions are then posed by members of the student audience, requiring panelists to wrestle with the broader impact of the election on communities of need in various cities.
