Episode Details

This lesson introduces students to solar nebulae and the processes that form stars and planets into solar systems. Astronomers from the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Lab explain the differentiation of material in a proto planetary disk, creating terrestrial and Jovian planets alongside comets and asteroids. Dr. Geoff Marcy shows how the solar nebula theory is reinforced with discoveries of solar systems orbiting other stars in our galaxy.
