Dr. Salamishah Tillet, Professor at University of Pennsylvania and Co-Founder of "A Long Walk Home" sits down with Carol Jenkins to discuss the topic, saving Black girls from violence and nurturing their success.

In 2003, A Long Walk Home was founded by sisters, Dr. Salamishah Tillet and Scheherazade Tillet to educate, inspire, and mobilize young people to end violence against girls and women by using art.

This journey was inspired after Scheherazade discovered her sister, Salamishah was a rape survivor and wanted to help her sister heal from the violence she experienced.

In this episode of Black America, Dr. Salamishah Tillet discusses sexual violence, why we have to "Say Her Name", her thoughts on Beyonce's latest project, "Lemonade" and her latest work on artist, Nina Simone.
