Born in Italy, growing up working in his family-owned restaurant, Nick Valenti traces his career from studying Hospitality Management at City Tech, joining Restaurant Associates in 1968 as a trainee at Kennedy airport, managing the John Peel Room on Long Island, bringing restaurant-level food service to sporting events starting with the 1976 U.S. Open, and becoming president of RA's restaurant group. He outlines Restaurant Associates' changes in ownership over the next 20 years from public to private, becoming CEO under Japanese-owner Kyotaru, sale to Compass Group, acquisition of the west coast's Patina Group, and Valenti's 2004 buy back from Compass. He also speaks about his family and dedication to Citymeals On Wheels since 1984.
