Over the last three months in France, under the context of a renewed state of emergency, the French socialist government imposed a change to the labor code in the form of a new work law. In response to this, workers, students and the unemployed have been in the streets protesting. There is a growing sense that the government does not speak for them, and that people must speak for themselves. Since March 31st, 2016 there has been a convergence of struggles at Place de la République in Paris and then all over France, called "Nuit Debout" or "Stand up all night".
