Episode Details

Original tape date: November 2, 2018.

First aired: November 9, 2018.

This month we visit the South Bronx. Hip Hop’s home has developed a reputation for being one of the poorest and hard scrabble districts in the country. On this episode we’ll talk about some of those dark days and highlight some bright spots. You’ll hear about two diverging plans to fix long standing issues caused by the Sheridan Expressway; we’ll tell you about why some South Bronx students are taking the Department of Education to court; we’ll profile a teacher who’s using an ancient African art to educate students here in America; and finally, a South Bronx living legend tells us how the neighborhood has evolved over the decades.
