In 1913, Thomas Mott Osborne, a former mayor of Auburn, NY, spent a week incognito in the Auburn prison. Today the Osborne Association operates some of the country’s most innovative and effective services for New York State’s incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people and their families. Elizabeth Gaynes, the Association’s executive director, continues Thomas Osborne’s mission with creativity and passion as a leading advocate for prison reform.
