Episode Details

Original tape date: May 16, 2016.

First aired: May 18, 2016.

On this edition of Independent Sources hosted by Garry Pierre-Pierre, we profile an all black order of nuns that recently celebrated its centennial  and is using innovative measures to buttress their diminishing ranks. We hear about why there’s growing interest in contemporary African Art. Then our “On the Shelf" segment this week highlights the new book, Nationalist Heroines, that recounts the stories of the unsung women who were instrumental during Puerto Rico’s independence revolutionary movement.
