First on ITALICS, we take you Albany, New York, the State Capital, for the 29th annual New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators Weekend Conference. On Monday evening, the weekend Conference traditionally ends with the Festa Italiana, held at the nearby Troy Italian American Community Center. The Festa Italiana is the Capital Region’s largest Italian street fair and is attended by many members of NY State Government, regardless of ethnicity. As a preview for those attending this year’s Weekend Conference, which takes place on June 13th & 14th, 2010, we’ll show you some of the highlights from the proceedings of last years 2009 Legislator’s Weekend Conference amd Festa Italiana.
Next ITALICS takes you to the art exhibition Piccole Belle Cose: Small Beautiful Things, at the Garibaldi Meucci Museum on Staten Island, N.Y.Piccole Belle Cose consists of works that can only be called small in stature. All of art in the exhibition was created by members of the Italian American Visual Artists Network, also known as IAVANET. Piccole Belle Cose will be on exhibition until July 3rd, 2010 at the GMM.
