Episode Details

In the mountains of southeast Vietnam, Ma Bio, a Chu Ru woman, is one of the few people who plays the gong, an ancestral drum considered an Oral Masterpiece of Human Heritage by Unesco. She teaches the gong to the young generation of her village, but is worried because her gongs are old and pierced and she has to travel far to get new ones. Accompanied by her niece MaLuhin, she leaves on a 600-kilometer journey across the mountains and countryside to meet the last gong makers of Vietnam. Dir. Jerome Segur. (52 min.)
