Iniciamos en Joe's Place en El Bronx. Patricio Lerzundi entrevista a la Reverenda Carmen Hernández; activista y líder comunitaria quien comparte sus experiencias como defensora de empresarios de comunidades LGBT y jóvenes lideres latinos.

A continuación, vamos a Brooklyn a visitar El Diario La Prensa, el periódico en español más importante de la ciudad. Con motivo de su centenario, entrevistamos a editores, reporteros, líderes de la comunidad y lectores en general quienes hablan del papel de este diario en la vida de los latinos de la gran manzana.

En SoHo, en la sede de Tango House, el actor y cantante argentino “El Pulpo", habla de las diferentes etapas del tango en Nueva York; de sus investigaciones sobre las raíces del género y de su inspiración para encontrar un estilo propio de interpretar las canciones.

Y conoceremos desde la perspectiva de una madre, cómo llegar a entender y vivir el diagnóstico de un hijo con autismo; visitaremos la escuela pre-escolar Aim High y seremos testigos de la vida diaria de Simón y su familia.

Luego, con Carmen Boullosa vamos al Instituto Cervantes a encontrarnos con el legendario pintor peruano Fernando de Szyszlo; figura clave del arte abstracto y surrealista latinoamericano. Fernando nos habla del París de los años 40’s, de la vanguardia artística latinoamericana y Octavio Paz y de su forma de entender la pintura.

Para finalizar, hablamos con el cubano Chucho Valdés, uno de los más celebrados pianistas y compositores de jazz y quien reflexiona sobre la naturaleza de su obra musical y de la relación de los ritmos afro-caribeños y la música afro-americana.

We begin in Joe's Place, in the Bronx. Patricio Lerzundi interviews Reverend Carmen Hernandez, activist and community leader who shares the experiences that led her to become a defender of the community's business people, specifically the LGBT and young Latino leaders.

Next, we will go to Brooklyn, where we will visit El Diario La Prensa, the city's most important Spanish newspaper. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, we interview editors, journalists, community leaders, and readers who speak to us on the role of this newspaper in the lives of Latinos in the Big Apple.

In Soho at Tango House, the Argentinian actor and singer "The Octopus" talks about the different stages
of tango in New York, about his research on the roots of the genre, and how he was inspired to arrive at his own style of interpreting songs.

We will learn from one mother's perspective about how she has learned to understand and live with her son's autism diagnosis. We will visit the school Aim High and witness Símón and his family's daily life.

Then with Carmen Boullosa, we'll travel to the Instituto Cervantes to meet legendary Peruvian painter
Fernando De Szyszlo, key figure in Latin American abstract and surrealist art. Fernando talks to us about Paris in the 1940s, about the Latin American artistic vanguard of Octavio Paz, and of his way of understanding painting.

Lastly, we will speak with the Cuban, Chucho Valdes, one of the most celebrated jazz pianists and composers, who reflects on the nature of his musical works and the relationship between Afro-Caribbean rhythms and Afro-American music.
