Comenzamos nuestro episodio de hoy en Manhattan donde Janelle Raylon y Jorge Torres, bailarines del Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández, nos cuentan sus experiencias en el escenario mientras nos sumergimos en un colorido viaje a través de los bailes tradicionales mexicanos.

A continuación, ponemos rumbo a las calles de Jackson Heights, en Queens, para encontrarnos con varias mujeres que hacen de Roosevelt Avenue su lugar de encuentro y de trabajo. En el contexto de la reciente celebración del Día Internacional de la Mujer, ellas nos cuentas cómo ven el papel de la mujer hoy y nos hablan de sus logros y
sus retos.

Y finalizamos en Brooklyn, donde Carmen Boullosa recibe a la escritora brasileña Nélida Piñón. Autora de títulos como La Casa de la Pasión o La Republica de los Sueños, Nélida fue presidenta de la Academia Brasilera de Letras entre 1996 y 1997, convirtiéndose así en la primera mujer presidenta de una academia literaria en todo el mundo.

We begin today's show in Manhattan, where Janelle Ayon and Jorge Torres, dancers at the Ballet Folklórico of México of Amalia Hernández, tell us about their experiences onstage, while we begin a colorful journey through Mexico's traditional dances.

Later on, we head to Jackson Heights in Queens to meet several women that make Roosevelt Avenue their meeting site and workplace. Amidst the recent celebrations of International Women's Day, they tell us about the role of women today and about their achievements and challenges.

We finish in Brooklyn, where Carmen Boullosa interviews Brazilian writer Nélida Piñón. Author of novels like The House of Passion and The Republic of Dreams, Nélida was the President of the Brazilian Academy of Letters between 1996 and 1997, thus becoming the first woman to become president of a literary academy in the world.
