Episode Details

Original tape date: November 18, 2010.

-----------

Today, we'll focus on the film industry, more precisely on short films, a format that has played a key role in the development and current success of Latin American filmmaking.

The first film is Waves, by Colombian director Camila Jiménez, which talks about a part of society that is not usually portrayed, Afro-Colombian children.

The other film is Hispaniola, by director and producer Freddy Vargas, which deals with a taboo subject in the Dominican Republic: racism.

Both films lead us to a thorough analysis of the conflicts and contradictions of the societies in which they're set.
