Episode Details

Original tape date: February 11, 2009.

Sheryl welcomes Dana Canedy, author of “A Journal for Jordan: A Story of Love and Honor.” Jordan is Dana's young son, a son she shared much too briefly with her partner, First Sergeant Charles King. Stationed in Iraq, the career soldier wrote a journal so his son would get to know him if he didn't return. It was to be a guide on how to live life with honor. Sgt. King died when Jordan was just seven months old. Dana wrote about Charles' death and the journal in the Times, and because there was such a powerful reaction to the article, she decided to share the story of the love the three of them shared and the lessons she's learned about herself and life.
