Sheryl welcomes Professor Roslyn Bernstein to the program in this episode. She teaches journalism and creative writing at Baruch College and the City University Graduate Center. She and her husband Shael Shapiro are co-authors of “Illegal Living: 80 Wooster Street and the Evolution of Soho,” Their book chronicles the evolution of the community we know as Soho from a working class residential neighborhood, to a sleazy red-light district, to a manufacturing and commercial area, to a vibrant community of artists’ lofts, to the trendy, upscale commercial area it is today. It’s recently been published by the Jonas Mekas Foundation.
