Episode Details

Original tape date: February 25, 2013.

First aired: March 4, 2013.

When writing her newest book, "Lady at the O.K. Corral: The True Story of Josephine Marcus Earp," Ann Kirschner, dean of CUNY's Macaulay Honors College and author of "Sala's Gift" about her mother's experiences during the Holocaust, asked herself if she had gone too far afield with her latest subject. Dean Kirschner and host Sheryl McCarthy agree that growing up, Josephine Marcus Earp (wife of Wyatt Earp) was a hand full - running away from home, joining an acting troop, looking for adventure, perhaps knowing how limited the social opportunities were for a poor Polish Jewish person - child of the baker - in 19th century San Francisco.
