A little known World War II campaign, led by the U.S. government, librarians and book publishers was to provide American GIs, serving throughout the world - in foxholes, on ships, on aircraft - with books! Millions of books were distributed to service men and women to both entertain and to counter the enemy's wholesale burning of books. "When Books Went to War: The Stories that Helped us Win World War II" by Molly Guptill Manning - a terrific read!
