Episode Details

Original tape date: April 25, 2017.

First aired: May 1, 2017.

Online shopping has come into its own and this is causing enormous disruptions in the traditional retail industry. Shopping malls and department stores are closing at an alarming rate. Staggering job losses are occurring. Some of the most famous brand names are disappearing. Is this just part of the ordinary business cycle, or are we witnessing a fundamental change in one of the bedrock elements of American culture and the U.S. economy – the way we shop? Bob talks about this with guest Mark Cohen, a former Sears executive now the director of Retail Studies at Columbia Business School.
