This edition: The Dinga-Dinga Season
Just north of Madagascar lies the Mitsio archipelago where the Antakaran people live. It is a harsh dry land, where it is very difficult to grow anything. Though the people refer to themselves as the rock land people, they have adapted to become people of the sea.
In this village we meet Amad the diver, son of Amad the tall. Amad employs the technique of apnea diving to harvest the valuable dinga-dinga, or the sea cucumber. He must dive deep, and for long periods of time. We join Amad in his quest to find dinga-dinga then watch as he processes his quarry; preparing them to be sold to Chinese merchants.
