This lesson introduces several ways statisticians use probability to describe real world events. In previous lessons, you learned how researchers create sound statistical studies. In this lesson, you’ll learn that no matter how well a study is designed, chance can alter its findings. Despite facing overwhelming odds against them, people still win the lottery. Even in casino games of chance, players manage to beat the odds and win big. But how are the odds of such events determined? This lesson seeks to answer that question in a very precise way.
