In this monthly episode of “THEATER: All the Moving Parts,” host Patrick Pacheco has a conversation with top Set Designer/Architect David Rockwell. Rockwell has designed sets for more than 60 productions, from this season's "Tootsie" and "Kiss Me, Kate" to "Kinky Boots,” "Hairspray," and "She Loves Me,” which he won the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design. Rockwell is also internationally known for his architecture and design, including the 200,000 square-foot The Shed in Hudson Yards (Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Lead Architect, and Rockwell Group, Collaborating Architect).
In this interview, Rockwell reveals the impact of his childhood growing up in the US and Guadalajara, Mexico, on his passion for color, and the connection to people and immersive experiences in his design. Rockwell also takes us on his process from initial idea to stage and structure, including his current plays on Broadway and "The Shed."
Hosted by veteran journalist and commentator Patrick Pacheco, this new show features in-depth interviews with a myriad of artists, including directors, choreographers, writers, designers, composers and others. The show is taped at Chez Josephine Restaurant in New York City’s famed Theater District.
