First aired: January 16, 2016.

We welcome writer John Irving to celebrate the publication of his latest novel “Avenue of Mysteries.” He discusses early work on the stage and the "theatrical sensibilities" that have "infused" his work, although he has never tried to write a play. Irving also talks about the 19th century classics that inspired him to write 14 novels including his 1978 best-seller “The World According to Garp,” which he is now turning into a mini-series for HBO.
