Original tape date: February 27, 2018.
First aired: March 27, 2018.
In this episode of Twilight Talks, Kevin Moore interviews Laurie Simmons, an American artist, photographer, and filmmaker. Since the 1970s, Simmons has staged scenes with dolls, ventriloquist dummies, “walking objects,” and live models, creating photographs that resemble enigmatic domestic scenes. She is part of The Pictures Generation, a name given to a group of artists from a 2009 exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art that also featured Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, and Louise Lawler. Her feature film ”My Art,” which she wrote and starred in, premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.
