Until recently it was only the really weak companies, in sick industries like airlines and steel that tried to reneg on their pension promises to their workers. Today perfectly healthy companies like Verizon and IBM are deciding they can no longer afford the pension plans they have been offering. Sara Barlett asks her guest Karen Friedman from the Pension Rights Center, “Why is this happening?” And “What does it mean to you and to our society generally?”
