This edition: Orin Kramer, Chairman, New Jersey State Investment CouncilTweet
Original tape date: January 30, 2006.
Mr. Kramer discusses the current pressures on pension funds and compares public and private workers' retirement portfolios. He reveals some of the history of the fifty year old New Jersey institution and the assumptions being made on future earnings, as well as the differences between what will be needed and the condition of those investment institutions. Mr. Kramer attempts to explain the estimated value, as compared to the actual value, and how decisions are made with new investments. Sara questions him about public pension funds turning to hedge funds for greater return on their investments and asks if this is a future boon or disaster.
