CUNY TV Garners Four Nominations

CUNY TV received four nominations at the New York Emmy® nominations ceremony, which aired live on CUNY TV, Channel 75 on February 8, 2007.

The talented team behind the witty music video “Intelligent Design,” which originally aired as a segment on CUNY TV’s weekly call-in program “Brian Lehrer Live,” was nominated in three categories: Producer Barry Mitchell in the Religion Feature category (Mitchell also wrote the music and lyrics and starred in the piece); Editor Brian Bernhard in the Editor: Short Form category; and arranger Tyrik Washington in the Crafts Specialty: Musical Composition/Arrangement category (Washington also produced the music).

In the Arts Program/Special category, CUNY TV’s French arts magazine “Canape” was nominated for its August 2006 special edition (Jerry Carlson, Senior Producer). This is the fourth time that Canape has been nominated for a New York Emmy®.

Among the presenters were Emmy®-Award winner Jane Hanson, President of NY NATAS, and Marvin Scott, Senior Correspondent, WB11 News at 10 and Anchor, WB11 News Close-up. The nominations ceremony was co-produced by CUNY-TV and the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The 50th Annual New York Emmy® Awards will take place at the Marriott Marquis Times Square on April 1.
